Scott – Case Study

Pour Me a Glass of Lockdown Please

Before lockdown everything seemed to be going well, I had plenty of things to do and was living a quite structed life with no booze or even temptations really.

The doubting or was it believing started a couple of weeks into the lockdown, the sense of impending doom seem to kick in whether it was partly media driven I’m not sure but the same old questions started running through my head: I will be fine, I can manage the drink better now and there’s always the deal breaker I might be dead next week so it doesn’t matter anyway.

It wasn’t long of course before the wheels came off the wagon and I was drinking too much and taking too many chances so I decided to come off again. But while suffering withdrawals I was already planning my next drink which proved I wasn’t still in the right place. Fortunately the same day I received a facetime call from Danny at stand to after a good long chat and a few tears on my part I think I finally got the lightbulb moment (it takes some getting through sometimes) I realised that there was plenty to look forward to and it wasn’t the end just the beginning.

I had really missed the personnel interaction with Danny was there to help me through the unprecedented times, once again his experience and kindness got me back on track.

Don’t look for excuses, Try to be nice, Try your best, And hope for best.
