Castleton Ridge Walk
So the weather held for us, what a brilliant day for it, a brew was the first order at Blueberry Café and then the warm up walk straight to the top of Mam Tor with fantastic views down the Hope Valley taking in Peveril Castle, and the various Blue John Caverns in the area. (a bit breezy but it didn’t deter the wearing of shorts by some of the party).
We progressed along the ridge passing Hollins Cross and onto Lose Hill, with the knees holding up along the varied terrain.
At last a downhill bit after all the elevation led us to the beautiful village of Hope, and a bacon sandwich at the well stocked Adventure Café – along with a brew of course.
We then started our return journey across muddy fields, stiles and gates before returning to the start point– 11km in all .
There was some great connections and friendships borne from brilliant engagements and chats.
