Peak District Castleton August Walk
On Wednesday 23rd August 2023 our Veterans took the opportunity of good weather, yes in August – shock!!! But the beauty of the Peak District and Sun on their back made for a great day.
We started at Castleton Visitors Centre for a brew and banter then followed a well-trodden route , via Hollowford Outdoor Centre towards Hope, the views of Mam Tor, Peverill Castle and Hope Cement Works served as way points en route. Once in Hope we took time to pay our respects at the War Memorial and a Commonwealth War Grave in the Church grounds.
We then followed the river back to Castleton, crossing the train line with care and then on for a further brew and the obligatory debrief.
